My Obsesion with Eyelash Extensions
4/06/15

I am a licensed esthetician. All I do, all day, every day, is obsess (completely and utterly) over eyelash extensions. I dream about it, I breathe it, I fantasize about it. Now this may sound like the beginning to someone who might be due for an intervention, but I specialize in semi-permanent individual eyelash extensions. It's all I do! I work 6 days a week, I never have less than 6 clients on any given day and I have never woken up and dreaded going into work. I love what I do. I'm passionate about it. I am always trying to better myself and give my clients the best of me. That's what a good lash artist does. Pushes the envelope. Looks at her work, no matter how amazing it looks, no matter how ecstatic the client is, and wonders to themselves, how can I do it better? That being said, once you find a wonderful lash guru to do magic to your eyes, you will NEVER look back! (Unless it's to bat your beautiful new lashes at a lucky someone!)

Every woman, and some men, would greatly benefit from having eyelash extensions. Biologically, we have a predisposition to be attracted to someone with full, thick and long eyelashes. It shows fertility and health. Mentally, we are always looking for someone who can potentially carry our stock! That's just science! Since putting modernized science to use as our "vanity helper" we have utilized Botox, plastic surgery, make-up applications and new methods of exercise to make us the best that we can possibly be. Eyelash extensions are not such a new addition to this "maintenance" but it's one of the most important ones. Because your eyes are the portal to your soul..!! Like getting your nails done, or threading/waxing your eyebrows. We need it. Embrace it. Love it. Be proud of it. Yet, be a vixen and be mysterious about it! If you do not want someone to know you're getting "your lashes did" just bat them lashes and say "thank you!". If someone is savvy enough, they will figure it out. If they look like they need help, be a Good Samaritan and let them know the game.

99% of my clients love their lashes. They leave me afterwards with a renewed bounce in their step and a glow in their eyes. They know that these lashes make them powerful. Eyelash extensions give you confidence. Confidence that doesn't wash off (like mascara). You wake up in the morning with no trace of a raccoon eye (eyes) and beautiful curly dark black lashes! Ummmm, you can just end it there. Get up and go...! Well, wash your face and brush your teeth first! But you can just get up and go! It's that simple! No priming, curling, coats of waxy black goop and brush the mother out, THEN still primp some more.... Just thinking about it makes me terribly tired. Yet the application process is so seamless and flawless (yes I like to toot my own horn! So what!) someone very very close to your eyeballs wouldn't even be able to tell you're wearing fakies! I've had clients who are optometrists who swear by these and have never had a problem with them. I've also had clients who have had surgery or had their eyes checked by skilled optometrists who couldn't even discern that a) my patient is wearing eyelash extensions, or b) my patient is wearing eyelash extensions. They're apart of you, because guess what? They are your real eyelashes! Just an extension of it. Like your inner fabulousness trying to emerge... That's deep.

The eyelash extension process is painless if done correctly. Seamless if done skillfully. Beautiful, if done AT ALL. You hear scary stories about chemicals in the adhesive damaging your eyelashes. I've done the research. There are harsher chemicals per billionth in your tap water! You know, the same tap water you wash your face with and brush your teeth with everyday!? Yes, THAT tap water! Guess what? There will be people who are sensitive to the adhesive (or glue) and can't keep them on. There are also people who are allergic to gluten and can't enjoy a pretzel!! What?!? We empathize with them and hope some brilliant scientist comes up with a cure for these ailments, but don't ostracize the whole lash community for it! Remember, there will always be someone who will ruin it for the rest of us. Always, with almost everything we deem awesome. Historically you know I am 100% right!

We are always learning! Also, your lashes are always regenerating and growing, like your eyebrows and hair, could they all be linked?!? Yes. Yes they could. So the conception that one application or multiple will make your eyelashes fall out is preposterous. Hurts my feelings ya'll. I love what I do. If for one second I thought doing this would hurt someone, I wouldn't be wearing them (it's been almost 8 years with me having extensions on) or doing eyelash extensions exclusively. Night and day. And writing a blog about it, on my bed, with hot chocolate cooling next to me (with marshmallows duh) on a Saturday night- instead of wreaking havoc!, I made a sacrifice to basically plead and shake people awake as to why you should partake in the semi- permanent individual eyelash extension game.
